Danielle Fujita

Danielle Fujita is one of only two female skating coaches in the NHL and there are only a total of thirteen skating coaches that are working full time for an NHL team. She has been working for the Calgary Flames since 2018 and has over 30 years of coaching experience. She takes a no-nonsense approach to her teaching and yet has a unique ability to truly connect with her athletes. Danielle genuinely cares about the players she works with but she is not ok with status quo, negativity or mediocrity and her coaching clearly reflects that. If she doesn’t see immediate improvement from her players she carries that as her responsibility. She believes that progress comes from effective teaching, accurate communication and creative problem solving. When you see her in action you really gain an appreciation for her gift of teaching!

Chris Kobelka

Chris has been coaching with Danielle for seven years now and training under her for nine. He is a defenseman currently playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for the Calgary Canucks. Chris is committed to, and will be playing at, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a Division 1 school in the NCAA, next year. Chris’ coaching philosophy is to grow the love for skating as well as the skills within the game of hockey. Chris has a leadership style that is of a positive outlook, allowing focus on what the trainee is doing well while encouraging them to work on the aspects they are finding more difficult for improvement to occur. Chris values the importance of good character and hopes that those he instructs will realize that simply being a good person can open the doors to many future opportunities in their lives, he wants to be able to have a positive impact on his skaters' entire lives, not just the times within the rink.

Evan Auld

Evan is currently playing U18AAA at Edge School and has trained with Danielle for the last six years and has been assisting with her for the last 3 years. Evan became a coach to help younger generations learn how to become more effective hockey players, without taking the fun aspect out of the game we love. From a young age Evan struggled with his confidence as a player and he felt that his speed and skill level were never good enough. Evan says, it’s because of this struggle that he hopes to be able to help young players overcome their own struggles to grow into amazing players! If you see Evan out on the ice or in the lobby, don’t be afraid to say hi! Everyone is included and accepted in the My Hockey House community!
